Microneedling

If you want to stimulate the production of your own natural collagen and elastin, to create
smoother, healthier-looking skin, look no further than Micro-needling.

What is Micro-needling?

Micro-needling in Sheffield by DermaLuxe Aesthetics uses the latest skin needling pen, which
creates microscopic injuries to the skin, in order to stimulate the body’s natural healing
response. It is the healing process that causes collagen and elastin to flourish within the skin,
producing healthier, more radiant-looking skin.

Micro-needling is a very safe and effective treatment. It can be used anywhere on the face or
body. It is particularly effective for smoothing fine lines and wrinkles, restoring a more radiant,
youthful appearance. It is also highly effective for reducing stretch marks and acne scars.

What happens during the treatment?

Before your treatment, the skin is thoroughly cleansed, and a numbing cream is applied for
optimal comfort. The micro-needling is performed, followed by the application of a soothing gel or sheet mask

containing collagen boosting vitamins and anti-inflammatory properties to help the skin heal.

The frequency of micro-needling treatments varies with the intensity of the treatment and the
area being treated. Our Nurse will examine and assess your skin prior to treatment, and the
treatment will be tailored to treat your skin concerns. As a rough guide, treatments are usually spaced four to eight weeks apart.

When will I see results?

Patients usually begin to see the initial results within a week of their first treatment. Radiant
skin is apparent as the deeper skin continues its healing process, with results continuing to
improve as the skin continues to heal for up to 3 months.

Microneedling vs Dermaroller – what’s the difference?

Microneedling reduces acne scarring, stretch marks, fine lines, pigmentation, enlarged pores,
blackheads, and wrinkles. Microneedling with a medical needling pen such as the one used by
DermaLuxe Aesthetics is far superior to the traditional dermal roller.

Microneedling by a medical needling pen is more advanced and provides better results because:

✔️It is more precise. Microneedling pens can easily treat those hard-to-reach areas such as
around the eyes, nose, and upper lip whereas it is more difficult to reach these areas with
traditional rollers.

✔️The treatment depth can be customised exactly to the client’s needs for optimal comfort.
Needle depth can be adjusted with Microneedling Pen whereas the Microneedling Rollers can
only reach a single depth. The benefit of adjusting needle depth allows us to cater to different
areas of the face that require different penetration levels for the best results.

This is extremely important when treating specific skin concerns such as acne scarring

or delicate areas of the face such as the eye area.

✔️There is less epidermal damage therefore less downtime. The needles in Microneedling Pens
penetrate the skin vertically whereas with Microneedling rollers the needles penetrate the skin
at an angle causing more chance of

‘tears’ through the skin leading to more side effects and therefore longer recovery time.

✔️The treatment is faster and more comfortable. As pen-style microneedling devices have a
built-in motorised system it is more precise and accurate on its depth of penetration and can
penetrate the skin from up to 100 times per second with an adjustable speed, whereas speed
cannot be adjusted with Dermarollers as this is dependent on the handler's technique. Being
able to adjust the speed minimises skin damage, pain, and recovery time.
